Easy A

Why not become a high school drop out?

When you're trying to ever night to push through and get things done
And every moment passed is one that you're devoting,
One that you're sacrificing,
In hopes that it will be worth that A.

When you awake from the dead to the life you can't live,
And you still haven't finished,
And the drive in you has all but vanished,
And you break and ask that friend for her homework,
And that other friend to copy his too,
In hopes that it will be worth that A.

When your tears are more than willing to part with your eyes
And your brain is telling you
YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND SO DON'T EVEN TRY
So you Google each and every question
And thank God for Wikipedia,
In hopes that it will be worth that A.

Why not become a high school drop out?

When everything you're doing seems to be irrelevant,
And you know you're never going to need to know that the derivative of sinx is cosx
Nor will you ever have any desire to write an essay explaining the symbols and voice
In literature that you're TOLD are THE GREATEST classics of all time,
Yet you're still staying up till midnight staring at your paper
In hopes that it will be worth that A.

When you're told you need to figure out what you're doing with your life
As a teenager
Yet you don't have any experience to do so,
And you still need to write to colleges and
You need to apply for scholarships and
You NEED to move on with your life
But you can't because you've learned to bullshit everything so you can write it the night before
In hopes that it will be worth that A.

When you're telling yourself that you need a break
And you play hooky one day so,
For a little bit,you can feel
Normal
Again. But of course,
That's the day you learn the most important part of the unit
And so you sacrifice your sanity
In hopes that it will be worth that A.

Why not become a high school drop out?

When you're not really learning,
And you understand the emphasis is on your grade
Rather than your understanding,
Why not become a high school drop out?
Because there is nothing in hoping for a single letter A.
