Easy Winters

These are easy winters.

The snowfall is light.

The days are short.

The skies are grey.

The hunting is sport,

for these are easy winters.

These are easy winters.

For the man on his farm

he stocks the fire,

warms his hands

as the flames get higher

in these easy winters.

These are easy winters.

Children in the snow

go and stay

waiting for spring

to come out and play

amongst these easy winters.

“These are easy winters.”

For the lonely old man,

he sits all alone,

closes his eyes

and dreams of home

during these easy winters.

These are easy winters.

The family mourns

as they stand on hard ground

crying silent tears

as they lay him down

in these easy winters.

These are easy winters.

The nights are long.

The skies are white.

The snow is swirling.

The world is right

for these are easy winters.

I love poetry and writing. These ideas come from the characters within the poem or story, who are sitting by my side, telling me what to write.
