Echo

In a dark and dank little cave,

I stay safely hidden away

with hopes and dreams and secret fears,

everything I'd like you to hear.

I keep drowning words left unsaid

in the River Styx in my head.

Was it fear or Pan's wild cry

that led my heart to deny?

All I know is if the Fates are kind

somehow, someday you'll be mine.

Imprisoned always in my cave

for my cowardice stole the day,

twisted my stomach into knots.

What I meant to say I forgot.

Now stuck with this horrid curse,

I cannot speak lest one speaks first.

Wishing I was your siren's call,

if I could, I'd tell you my all.

All I know is if the Fates are kind

somehow, someday you'll be mine.

So much I want you to know,

I am Echo,

waiting to repeat the words

'I love you so'.

All I know is if the Fates are kind

somehow, someday you'll be mine.
