Echo and Narcissus

There once was a maiden who could not speak

She could only repeat the words that she heard.

So when a young hunter came down by the creak,

She could not tell him, of how her heart stirred.

He gazed at himself lying there a the shore

Telling himself he longed never to be apart

Piecing together the word that he bore

She told the young hunter the woes of her heart

She was not heard and this was his doom

He looked and he longed until he had died

And when he was lead away all he left was a bloom

That’s where the maiden laid down and cried

Along time has passed from our stories’ end

It seems at present I must go

But, please remember my dear friend,

The tale of Narcissus and Echo.
