eclipse

the moon never understood love

the sun never understood fear

the moon never understood

how the sun never cried a tear

the sun understood smiles

the moon understood sorrow

the sun understood,

in the ways no one could

what joy comes with tomorrow

the sun and moon had met one day

the day of a solar eclipse

they realized they had found love

the love you'd find in scripts

i repeat this story to myself

as it sweetly warms my heart

because as i weep in the bitter moonlight

i remember they had to part
