Eden's Last Stand

In the lagoons of wandering Moken

Fishers, tourists and helpers have spoken:

"Ground the kabang, put down the fishing spear!

O Courage of the Sea, your school is here."

And in the lands where the Dinka's cattle graze,

The old ways die as thinkers rattle praise

On Man's development, free from the earth.

Forget your cows and do something of worth!

Eat our fruit, and no more will you be dumb!

Hiss like us, and godlike knowledge will come.

Put on clothes, and learn to contribute,

Savage folk, to the world of repute.

But we said no to your kind long ago!

You've ruined the garden of the good life so

Our youth can't return and they must afford

The life of toil past the Flaming Sword.
