Edge

Every day I walk

I walk looking over my shoulder

I walk in fear

I walk alone

I walk on edge

Every day I speak

I speak, but only with a held tongue

I speak with dread

I speak with foreboding

I speak on edge

Every day I wait

I wait in silence

I wait in fear

I wait on edge

And every day I think

I think of freedom

I think of breaking the chains I am held in

I think of soaring higher than the sky

And I think of being free
