The Edge

Looking down over the edge, trying to make a not make a tough decision,

Trying to remind myself there there is more too life than this vision.

The thoughts in my head are not true,

But I was at the point where I didn't know what else to do.

Looking down over the tracks,

Seeing how much everything has slipped through the cracks.

My hands are shaking, and the tears fall down my face,

Because I feel so empty and alone, and most of the time I feel like a disgrace.

Sitting on the floor, realizing that I can't do this anymore,

Hoping that no one hears my cries as the sound passes through the door.

My heart is racing in ways that I can't understand,

Hoping for someone, anyone, to reach out their hand.

Wiping the tears from my cheeks, but they still continue to pour,

My mind screaming that we can't do this anymore.

Taking a step back, and knowing that there has to be at least one person who cares,

And that these actions would suddenly make my pain theirs.

And then, when you feel like there is nothing left, you get that one sign of hope,

And you realize that all you needed was that one little glimmer of hope.

Even though you feel alone, all you need is one person to make you want to keep going,

And that you have come to far to just throw it all in.

Then that glimmer of hope reminds you why you have been fighting for so long,

And you take a step back and realize that the best word to describe you is strong.

That no one else picked you up when you were down,

And that you were the one who picked up that pile of mess off of the ground.

And suddenly, that birdge where you wanted it to end has a whole new meaning,

And the voices in your head become quiet, and they suddenly stop screaming.

Instead of the bridge being a place where it can lose it all,

It becomes a place where you were able to stand tall.

The bridge is something that you can make a new beginning as you choose to cross,

And you realize that it is no longer something that you need to consider a loss.

You got through it before, and you will do it again and again,

And you let it all go, as you allow yourself to let go of that chain.
