The Edge

I'm standing on the edge. My greatest fear is of falling But I can't turn away. Who have I become? What am I seeking? Pleasure? Adventure? Security? The wind starts blowing. I'm pushed against my will. Have I gone too far? Have I pushed the limits? What was I seeking? Pleasure? Adventure? Security? I'm falling too far, too fast. The end is near I'm sure But I can't stop it. I crossed the line. There are no goodbye's. I braced for impact. None came. Too many questions. I open my eyes. I'm lying on the floor. I've fallen asleep With the pills in my hand. There is no edge. There is no wind. There is just me And my final decision. I'm standing on the edge Scared to jump, Scared to walk away. I gather my courage And turn around. The edge is not my friend. I can't seek If I'm falling.
