LOOK at the people, the little kid said, They all have bright futures, up, up ahead! HOW can you tell them what’s right and what’s wrong? Don’t you know each of them has a song? YOU might think they’re similar, and that’s what you’ll hear, But listen again with a kind, careful ear. Their melodies change, though some might be slight Their messages touch and move and delight. No matter their names or where they come from, Just show your support (with a little hum). They need to know just what they are worth, That in this world, there should not be a dearth Of EMPATHY, TRUST, And PURE BELIEF, That everyone gets to turn a new leaf. THAT’S fine, said the kid, but I don’t understand, Don’t we all know ourselves like the back of our hand? No one would ever get pushed around If we held our heads high and stood our ground. Stay true to ourselves? Easier said than done. The burden of changing for others weighs a ton. Expectations are met Labels of the “teacher’s pet”… It falls upon us settle that debt Between what we see and how we react Between what is false and what is true fact. Perceptions are tricky, they bend what we know, And when we succumb, we simply can’t grow. DEFY the stereotypes as they start, And you will actively doing your part To save this world from becoming mundane Exercise your heart, your soul, and your brain. With this in mind, just go and take flight It’s your education, yes, learning’s YOUR RIGHT.
