An Education

Get yourself an education.

Close your mind and close your eyes.

Pull out all your pens and paper.

Save your whos and whats and whys.

Schools'll suck your soul like candy.

taking all that's pure and sweet

Don't you dare leave or you'll end up

homeless, jobless, on the street.

Get yourself an education,

Said my teacher once to me.

Then she opened up the world

and placed it out for me to see.

I'm working on my education.

Somday I would like to be

the teacher who gave someone hope,

who helped a student just like me
