Eggshells

We laugh as to hide the
Times where we cried
We push on steadily
We pretend they never shattered
but these eggshells here
Will they ever truly be restored?
We tread as to not cut ourselves
On the mess that we've made
The problem here is asking
What we had can it be remade?
There's just a part of us
A little trigger in our brains
Reminding us of humpty
Who couldn't be restored again
The eggshells are all scattered
Here across the ground
We wish they were still together
We should've never thrown them down
We try to salvage what we can
But just can't look past the pain
We can't because the trust we had
Will never be the same ...
