eight lines.

i knew you in fluorescent lights and smudged eyes

i knew you in fake yellow flowers and tooth pains and heart aches

i knew you, not like the back of my hand, but like the disease that plagues my head

hello from the ghost of unsettled scores

of dim hallways and a quickly fading future

of a broken shell of a person

with all of this in mind

i lift up my white sheet and wail for all the phantoms of the night to hear.
