The Elder Gods
Lock your doors and kill the light,
For the elder gods come out tonight.
The moon turns red and the stars go black,
And the graveyard skulls go click and clack.
Eldritch mist flows through the streets,
And the fires in stoves increase in heat.
The dogs all howl and the cats all scream,
The kitchen kettles bleed with steam.
The rumbling starts, from deep below,
It follows the old gods wherever they go.
The drums and flutes from other planes,
That drives the mortal man insane.
Louder and louder the music becomes,
Until it makes the human ear go numb.
The crashing and screams are heard all around,
Creating an evil and oppressing sound.
The smoke and acid fills the lungs,
Until your mind sings songs unsung.
The flap of wings, the slither of slime,
Create a sound that’s too sublime.
Men run out into the streets with the ancient beasts,
Dancing even after their music ceased.
Unlock your doors and run into the light,
For the elder gods have come tonight.
