Electric Lights

Mon, 05/06/2019 - 18:06 -- Argo

The shining of the light on the screen tempts me once again,

It's shimmering presence seems to say, "you know how well I entertain!"

I look at my work that I've toiled on for hours, riddled with frustration.

Before the temptation takes me away again I thnk, "Not before my final calculation."

Hours go by, my pen scratches in a flurry like it has never done before,

I crack my back and think, "Am I a child no more?"

//Being able to deny immediate gratification is a skill that is vitaly important. When I

finally learned this I supposed that I was one step closer to becoming a proper adult.

If I could go back and tell the younger me a bit of advice it would be, work hard

and work long.\\

This is relatable, although I still give in to the instant gratification more often than I’d like. Good job getting past that, and thanks for sharing your writing!
