The Elegy of a Lost November

I lost my mind. Just thirteen days had passed

But you convince me that you know what’s best.

Just one day more and maybe you’d have asked

How I had felt. Instead, you had just guessed.

Recite the line that made me laugh once more,

Remove my hate for everything you love.

Please tell me how our love had died before

I knew. You had to put yourself above

The girl you hurt more than she did in June.

I watched you leave, I watched you go away

And any time I see you it’s too soon.

For some odd reason I wished you would stay.

I’d fight the dragons like you’d tell me to

Not realizing I was fighting you.
