An Elegy to My Soul

The world shall frost my days
Of innocence. Slow cold crackles its way
into thin layers of icy crystals. What once was
soon to be no longer, as is my soul to function as it does,
warming my thoughts to see purity among
the blurry, dark shadows that brush along
the walls. Hovering darkness over the line that calls
me to decide between the sides of dark and light.
Once blinding sunshine no longer seeming too bright.
Visual of rays fading from me into the life of another,
the happy other, watching it grow stronger in them.
Bright star, my inspiration, as it once was,
soon to be no longer, as is my heart to function as it does.
