Elements of Me

A rare breed that set off a red flag.

A something special though not the first or the last.

I escaped through the smoke before the flames attacked,

though none of my things remain,

there’s nothing that I lack.

I might not be a boy,

but I’m tougher than them all.

Everyone knows that the little one is tall,

but any given day I can make the tower fall.

Unique may be special,

but that’s just implied.

To see the genius in me,

you have to read in between the lines.

You’ll never find Rynique in a dictionary,

because she can’t be defined by words.

Not a bird,

not a plane,

but different type of soul.

She’ll carry the burden,

though she doesn’t deserve it,

and fight for what is right.

She’ll absorb the knowledge,

by going to college,

and make herself a better life.
