The Elephant and the Rope

The elephant walks lightly,

Contained by a rope.

Merely a string,

That steals the beast’s hope.

It does as it’s told,

Without trying to bite.

For the rope around its leg,

Says “You cannot fight.”

The beast has been raised,

To believe such a lie.

That a rope can contain,

The beast’s powerful strides.

So the beast gives no effort,

To even escape.

And the masters at work,

Abuse the beast’s fate.

The beast knows no freedom,

And will always remain,

At the mercy of masters,

Whose greed trumps the beast’s pain.
