Ella
The soft touch of your skin under my fingertips
The smell of your hair hits me like waves, faintly coconutty
Wraps around me like a warm blanket on a cold day, fresh out of the shower
You make me feel alive in a way I never did before
Maybe it's because the electricity I feel when I feel your breath on my skin is no forbidden love
Maybe it's because when I'm held down by the weight of the world, you feel it too
And when you hurt, I hurt too
Maybe it's because I talk about the way you hurt me
And you don't just hear
You listen
Before I met you I never understood how to share the way I felt
Drilled into my core was a feeling of inadequacy
If I spoke my mind, if I let him know I was unhappy, I would give him the power
The power in the relationship, the power over my feelings
But you listen
And when I listen to you
Sometimes I'm mad
But I try, I try so hard to understand you
Sometimes we feel so close we might as well share a body
And sometimes you're so far away from me it's as if we just met
But we teach eachother
You make me better
And I feel
I really feel, I know
As though I do you too
