Else
That was always my favorite part.
The quiet climax,
The way silence was always louder than sound.
Everything clearer in silence,
The refrigerator fan.
Rain running down your face.
Heartbeats.
I knew by the way your boots hit the floor,
The new slope of your brow,
That you had found a sound.
You wanted me to have a listen. I didn't.
You took my hands in yours; pulled them away from my ears.
My eyes flew open wide,
At the sound I'd 'fore denied.
Couldn't believe that all this time,
This could've been my life.
You liked thunder.
But my favorite was the way
My voice rebounded off your
Chest differently than it did anywere
Else.
