Eluding The Cries
Watching a hurricane
won’t get you wet
And reading more Freud
won’t help you forget
Mouthing the words
cannot guarantee sound
Laden with fear
hiding guilt by the pound
Stated intent
broken pathways to roam
Paring good wishes
right down to the bone
New skin in the game
and wounds that won’t heal
Eluding the cries
— and truth unrevealed
(Dreamsleep: January, 2026)

Your Poem's Voice
Blends personal psychological struggle with abstract philosophical concepts about avoidance and truth.
Dense packing of existential ideas: denial, psychology, self-deception, wounds across 9 lines.
Overwhelmingly dark: fear, guilt, broken paths, wounds, hidden truth create despondent tone.
Tense, restless language with forward momentum but controlled by introspection rather than explosive.
9 lines with dateline; falls in 7-15 range for short-form poetry.
Rich metaphors (hurricane, Freud, bone-paring, new skin, wounds) create ornamented philosophical texture.
Pure introspective lyric voice; internal meditation on self-deception with no dramatic persona or narrative.
