Embrace Yourself

This unknown reality, strangely familiar yet distant. Disconnected. I am me, myself, it is me, we are I. Within this, my body, there is empty with such fullness. Alien to my own skin. Blocked from reaching my fullest potential. Each sound heard is a foreign language to my ears. Each movement made feels it only exists in my mind. I’m doubting the validity of this dream life, this reality Walking through this awkward existence, faces blur to one. The one. My mother, her face in a deep distress sitting. I sit across and words rapidly tumble out. The urgency, frightening. She spoke of struggles throughout our life. Things I hadn’t known. My perception switched towards appreciation and empathy. A life I thought I knew was now a mystery. It’s time to begin again from the beginning. I reached out to grab her hand and she disintegrated to dust. She blew away. The time spent in this alternate space revealed it. It's always our decisions to be who we are. And who I am isn't me. The real me. She's been hiding behind a charade. Let my own lack of a voice be heard. Be heard to my friends and family. Apparent strangers and lovers. Experiences discovered yet never shared. Be open and free. Available to be the one who sees. The freedom to be me is necessary. Don't box me in. Let me be me.
