Embracing the Mirror Image

To rejoice at my imperfect reflection

In some place of the looking glass,

To accept the extra rolls of fat

Folding on my curvy sides,

And the dimpled flesh

On my pale colored thighs.

The eyes of students look my way

Tight clothes showcase my muffin-top

Walking down the hallways,

     Confident like me—

That is my dream!

To rejoice at my imperfect reflection

In the face of the looking glass,

To accept!

Extra rolls!

Dimpled flesh!

On my flabby sides and untoned thighs.

Students admiring my looks . . .

An attractive muffin-top . . .

Judgement slowly slips away

     Confident like me.
