Embracing Truth
On the rooftop, alone, I see myself.
The hurt, pain, fear, exposed shelves.
Years of hiding behind a smile, all the while, stoic inside.
But why? Why is it on this rooftop, staring out, I see myself?
The city lights are bright. The wind is whirling. No one escapes the night.
My guard let down. My heart is overwhelmed. Surpressed feelings have found me now.
My story was seen in this night. No longer contrite, but overcoming the sight.
The view from above gives light to every misstep and blatant disregard for truth.
But, it is this light that pulled me through.
Each face represents a piece, a time. These form this heart of mine.
When entangled fear built walls, the truest light broke them all.
When pain knocked at my door, the rooftop showed me more.
I stand strong. I stand tall. Night has no power.
From this city rooftop, I do not cower.
My story is the line of many. It is the hurt of plenty. But, that is not where the prose end- it is where they begin.
Peace instilled. Pain let go. That is the story I must show.
And when the walls return, the pain and fear burn, I will see the rooftop.
It is not relapse. It is restoration. The motivation to find wholeness.
I will see the beauty of my true self. The simple form that exists to give and nothing else.
This is why I am on this rooftop. This is why I see myself.
This place of escape is a piece of Heaven, not Hell.
