Emergence

I am thankful for the stories that have made me where I stand today
You see, these stories did not happen within our lifetime
Imagine, these stories happened long ago when animal once spoke to human

Now, the story is that the animal does not speak

But human can speak for all creation

The creation story my forefathers have orally passed on for countless generations lives within me
I know the elements that made up my being
These creation stories have been told, prayed, and sung
The stories are embedded within this land
The newcomers do not understand our land, our holy lands
These stories were lived and told before their people touched this land
I am so thankful that my peoples' stories continued as time has itself
I am thankful they were not shelved
I am thankful for these stories that remind me: this is my origin
These are the stories that make-up my being
These stories cannot be seen
These stories can pray and sing
These stories remind you home's everything
I am thankful for my ancestors who fought to the death and fought against death
They are the ones that fought so I can type, write, speak, and continue these stories
I am thankful for my existance due to the ones who lived their prior in their human form
I am thankful to be Diné (Navajo)
