Emergency Medicine

You get injured,

I get to arrive.

Your tummy hurts,

It’s our job to make sure you stay alive.

EMT,

First responder.

At the age of seventeen!

Isn’t that something to ponder?!

Emergency medicine,

The doctoral route,

When I tell others the required schooling,

They all go mute!

I love it regardless,

Helping my fellow human,

Making sure organs don’t explode,

… kinda like Harry S. Truman…

No, I’m not crazy,

I just love the thrill,

The absolute rush and adrenaline!

Of… giving a patient a pil…

It has its ups and its downs,

But I love medicine nonetheless,

Because without weirdos like me,

Your body may become a mess!

It’s the only thing,

That I can see myself do,

Working nine to five in a cubicle?

Never, no thank you.

Yes, I want to be a doctor,

It’s all I’d ever want,

I love to achieve new heights,

Now if only I could choose this poem’s font…
