Emily

Red-headed beauty
with the brightest green eyes...
I watched as she threw herself away.
The heart's wounds more hidden
than the scars on her arm,
she wanted nothing more
than to take the bandages
from her wrist
and wrap them around
the wound in her chest.
I watched and stared in agony,
my voice gone and lost.
I couldn't look; I saw nothing
but everything spiraling
downward,
downward continuously.
I heard nothing
but the sound
of her last breath.
