Emotion

Emotion is a living thing

It flows and steeps in even the most seemingly vacant of people

It feeds off our energy and you wear it like a glove

It grows and consumes and crawls under your skin like a shiver you can't suppress

Some are hard to remove and others melt away at the drop of a hat

Others linger and never seem to leave

Or go dormant until they're dragged up with the ferocity of a wild animal

A couple lift you, make you higher than you've ever been before

Most are visible, they live below the surface and seep through at different intervals

They float through the air from person to person, like an infectious disease

Some are so powerful a feeling that they reach across and slap you in the face

You breathe them in and they're part of you, you feel them move beneath your skin

You relish in each and every one, you can't block them, you just let them pass through

Some die and change and evolve into something irreversible

They fly into the air like colored smoke and choke you until tears cascade down your face

They paint your mind and heart and drip between the cracks of your consciousness

Others are locked away, never to be seen or accessed by even the person's own thoughts

Few are ones you push away, they're blind to reason and judgement and yet they persist

Those are the ones you constantly suppress for fear of rejection
