Emotional War

It was here
When It held me in Its arms and told me to beware
But do not dare fear.
Because once upon a times may not be real
But who’s to say that reality is.
Who’s to say that this is fiction,
A bliss without description.
Who’s to say it will crumble at the slightest movement
Fading and twisting into something that it wasn’t,
A disimprovement.
Dreams lie shattered unable to pick up
Friends leave and everything feels like a stick up.
Because this isn’t love.
Because love isn’t something that makes you hurt.
Because I love you was in your mother’s arms as she cradled your head
Because I love you was when your sister was happy to see you after so long
Because I love you was when your grandmother asked what was wrong
Because I love you was when your brother provided reassurance
Because I love you was when your uncle said it will get better and always believe it
Because I love you is more than just this paper and this ink
Because I love you is more than just the words that I speak
Because I love you is more than just the looks and the heat
Its deep.
So deep that when the darkness is too much it speaks
Even in the chains that bind me in this love I am free
Because when I close my eyes love is there
It’s intellect, It’s kindness, It’s humor, and atmosphere
A warmth that permeates the air
To make this bond stronger and to declare
That I love you means I love you and not a thing more
Not abuse,
Not failed hope,
Not an emotional war.
