Emotions: A Powerful Thing

Growing up in America today, we feel as though we aren't being heard. At times like these, I look to the trees and think of a bird. They fly so freely and never worry about the world all around. If I were a bird, I'd swim like penguins or be as an ostrich, a masterpiece on the ground. But unlike a bird, I am a human, and I do worry about everything I see. I am not free of my emotions as birds are, and I cannot escape into a tree. The Emotions of the world keep all of life in motion. The power of Sadness creates poverty and suffering. The power of Anger causes endless wars across the oceans. The power of Happiness gives the world peace through our offerings. The power of Confusion forgets about the problems and focuses on the new. The power of Joy brings forth new life, new hope, and new love. The power of Enlightenment offers change and excitement to all we do. The power of Love envelops the world in total peace seen by the Gods above. Living as we do with emotions we don't understand, I find it hard to grow up in this land. If I were a bird, as free as the wind, as proud as the sea, as pure as the earth; I world only see the world as full of miraculous worth. But, I am human and I am not free of emotions as birds. I write them out when I cannot speak them in words. I must face them as enemies of old, When inside me they make my heart grow cold. Living with a plethora of emotions can be a daunting task. But, the people of the world are crying out to all of us to control our emotions. That is all we ask.
