Emotions: Resentment
A slow and steady flame,
Ignited and it lives within the quiet space
Where time and years has failed to heal the trace.
A phantom guest that will not leave,
A tapestry of things to grieve.
Feeding the embers, dark, and deep,
And still holding grudges should keep.
But in the shadows and in the shadow of the smart,
Build a prison for the heart.
The poison brews, the bitter cup,
Yet you are the ones who drinks it up.
The scales are weighted, the ledger drawn,
From dusk until the break of dawn.
To let it go requires grace,
And a willingness to change the pace.
For chains are heavy, forged in spite,
And dim the colors of the light.
The only way to break the bind,
is leaving yesterday and past hurts behind.
A heavy, lingering emotion that builds when harbor past hurts.
Acting as a silent anchor, keeping tied to the very moments and people caused us pain, while the mind continues to replay the offenses.
