Empowered
I write for the right to be me
Because this world simulates and manipulates
In order to control me by their idea of my destiny.
Where exactly is this road less traveled?
Everywhere my eyes fall I see an abundance of following.
Of others’ minds and ideas why result to borrowing?
Lack of individuality is our demise, the loose ends of where we unravel.
We scream racial equality and social acceptability
With the lack of taking the first step – changing individually.
Even focusing on ourselves doesn’t mean selfishness
Because together we rise and conquer, call it camaraderie.
Let’s teach our kids better than putting targets on each other’s heads as if our occupation is archery.
Death is not curable, something like a disease recognizable as chronic.
Killing each other for the chance to survive,
Understated to the simple phrase – how ironic.
Irony because we all live to die,
But let’s not die in vain.
And let’s not live slandering each other’s name.
Let us rise above the ashes of our ancestral oppression.
That is not a black or white issue despite our faulty obsession.
Our own minds are our own greatest limitation.
What is worth of excelling at low expectation?
And what’s the purpose of living amongst beings who practice constant degradation?
And again I say: I write for the right to be me
Because this world simulates and manipulates
In order to control me by their idea of my destiny.
And in that knowledge my strength has towered.
And I now pronounce myself empowered.
