Emptiness

Psalm 16:7         New English Translation

7 I will praise the Lord who guides me;

yes, during the night I reflect and learn.

A stranger in the night I met and then I woke up

All by myself, I was staring into the darkness

He looked like me, he could have been my clone

But deep inside a difference noticed by a spark

My flesh and my spirit reacted just like strangers

Barely at a little distance not recognizing one another

Still, they belonged together to face any kind of danger

That surely they could not handle if traveling all alone

Who would have guessed the idea of one without the other?

The entire past wiped out if just one of them was missing

The seriousness of onlyness that surely would forever bother

If just one dimension disappeared in this world of reminiscing

Body, soul, and spirit are interwoven far beyond our knowledge

One without the others would produce an empty-isolated being

Maybe that is why so many seem in appearance just as some foliage

Without a trunk and branches not understanding their own feelings

Although in most the spirit is dormant, being shoved in a corner

Ignored completely or at least ignored and barely recognized

Why is it so easily accepted that in this state of mourning

Death is always present although not completely realized?
