Emptiness of Infamy
She stands bruised and broken,
A spectacle of shame and disgust
Their whispers of blame and hatred flowing through her,
gripping her heart and shattering her soul.
Tears slip from hollow eyes,
as each image is etched into them.
The laughter begins to rise, suffocating her,
drowning her pleas to end the pain.
No one knows and no one cares
that her fame is growing, but her light is dimming,
Their disdain roars and her cries fade.
At last her pain is gone, and she is free
his touch has slipped and their words erased,
But her humiliation lives on in their memory, in their history
and behind their mourning façade.
