Empty
Dear Karma,
Did you know that when you left,
you were taking a piece of me with you?
They say that people leave a mark
on you when you love them,
so maybe that's why it feels like
a part of my heart is missing.
I loved you so much,
and now that you're gone,
there's a hole in my heart that can
only be filled by you.
And I feel empty.
Empty.
Empty!
EMPTY!
I feel empty inside,
and there's nothing I can do about it,
because now you're gone, in a better place,
and you're not in pain anymore.
Sometimes I can forget my pain.
Being around my friends helps a lot.
I can gather up their joy to fill up your hole,
and feel alright for a little while.
But when I'm home alone, my thoughts wander,
and they love to go straight to you.
I remember that you're gone, I can never get you back,
and my heart shatters all over again.
Their joy slips out of that hole,
like sand through my fingertips,
because nothing can replace you,
nothing will ever replace you.
Every memory I have of of you is tainted.
A dark cloud hovers over them,
a veil of sadness that's bittersweet,
because I can't ever see you again.
Life is hard to live sometimes.
What's the point?
But I know you want me to keep living,
so I do, for you.
I wish that I had more time with you,
I wish I had you back,
But death is permanent,
so I’ll have to live with that.
And I’ll stay empty.
I love you,
Devin
