Empty Apologies

Sitting
Standing
Surrounded by people
From the past
Present
And later
My future

My mistakes
Sink
Deeper
These words scream
Concentrate
On those three words
I am sorry

Encased
In my own chains
The feelings
Refused to be released
My emotions
Bubbling beneath the tremors
No explosion
Just
I am sorry

I cry
Internally
Wanting to expel
This vile infestation
Crowding
The soft feathers
Alas
I am sorry

Words are unkind
My waves
Crash
Splitting
Against the rocks
These cracks unglued
Leaving a hole
In a now gaping soul

Another
I cannot give
For the belief you have
Fades
As the faith in me
Dissipates
Into the eternal shadows

The imprisonment
Nor you or I can resist
As this new world
For me
Settles in
Hollowness
As of the life clouded with empty apologies
