The End

A man walks along a rug No one understands the pain and anxiety He did not realize it would end like this Two flags stand beside him like guards They keep him from his escape Breaths come shallow and sharp Everything stands out in more detail than before He did not realize it would end like this He can see the eyes of the people The lens is just as expectant These journalists and politicians Waiting, watching, always watching He did not realize it would end like this He starts to speak His entire being wants to stop Wants to run far away from the accusers But who among them would not know him? The one true Atlas in a world of mortals Trapped by his own fame He did not realize it would end like this Then it is over His speech is finished The weight is gone He is free… so why does he feel like he has been chained? Why does it feel as if he can’t go on? His palms sweat His face blanches There is a pain Pain like a knife in his chest He pulls out his gun Fire He did not realize it would end like this His knees hit the familiar rug Then his face He sees no light No hope Nothing He takes a breath His last He did not realize it would end like this
