End of the Beginning

Fine day to think about what could have been,
for all was good and all was safe and sound,
but your departure left me in the wind.
It's as though I have lost what I have found,
yet the sun remains to shine under me,
so I smile without making a sound,
and I let the wind take me away from
the pain, and now I can say that I'm free.
Although I still miss you, I will always
have you in mind and appreciate you
for being the rock that lifted my days
and I speak with nothing more than the truth.
Fine day to think about what could have been,
and all that came into my mind was you.
