At the End of the Day

At the end of the day

all I really need is me.

Well, that's what I like to tell myself.

Since it's easier to force yourself to be independent and alone,

than it is to accept your reality:

That the people you once trusted screwed you over,

and that when things get hard,

people leave.

People leave,

sometimes they give a warning,

something along the lines of "I can't deal with you anymore,

you're just all over the place"

Sometimes they don't say a word,

and that's the only indication that they're gone.

So if you leave, please tell me.If you';re going to leave,

I need you to tell me.

If we're close,

I need your assurance.

I need to know you won't leave me.

I need to know that the things I tell you,are being held onto,

I need to know that my intermost secrets are still mine.

Most importantly,

I need to thank you,

upward of a million times,

so you know how much you mean to me, s

o you don't leave.

Please don't leave.

At the end of the day,

I like to say I only need myself.

When the truth is, I'm codependant as hell.

I put up my persona that I'm fine being alone,

when really, my loneliness is toxic.

Two o'clock in the morning,

crying and confused.

Torn between hating and missing you.

Wondering, did they leave on their own,

or did I help them too

And wondering who will be next to leave,

because it is inevitable.

And to them I only have one thing left to say...

Please don't go

I need you.
