End of a Great Chapter
The thud thud thud of my heart beats dreary
As the thought of venturing out in the world appears more clearly
My feet cross the stage and with a smile
They hand me my diploma as we shake hands for a while
My palms are sweaty from the thoughts that role on
I walk down the stage and look for my mom
We meet eyes and pause for a pose
Click click the camera goes
We throw our hats high, up towards the sky
Then race to our parents while starting to cry
You’re gonna miss this plays in the background
While tears of fear of happiness roll down
Dad my secure foundation
Mom my drive
my sister known as my best friend all combined
We hug we kiss, we are soon interrupted
The photographer captures a moment that was constructed
Pose for the camera, hold your head high
wipe the last tear falling from your eye
Congratulating glances and words fill the air
Class of twenty-twelve we made it here!
