Ending the Cyle
“I can’t wait for you to leave!”, you say as you cook our meal.
“I’m tired of dealing with your crap!” , you say as I drop you to work with our only car.
The house is always filled with noise, but it’s rarely from our mouths.
TV shows play in your room, as movies and videos from social media fills mine.
Our worlds separated by two rooms, until we come out and the words that I dread and are tired of hearing comes from your mouth again.
Do you say it “Because you love me”?
”Because I love you” has never rolled off your tongue.
I can’t rememebr the last time you even mentioned a love word to me.
You never show affection, or tenderness, or gentleness.
You rather be tough and expect a girl to enter the world with the thought that this is love.
Scarce communication and unspoken that wants to be spoken words is love.
Showing no affection or tenderness is love.
Saying hurtful words in anger and that you don’t mean is love.
Just making sure that bills are paid and food is on the table without catering to emotional needs is love.
Do you do and say these things, “Because you love me”?
Do you do and say these things because you were given this type of “love” too?
If I am blessed to have children of my own one day,
I will show them what the love of a mother is suppose to be.
I will TELL and TALK to them about the way you’re suppose to love not only yourself
but others.
“Becuase I love you I do/did this for you”
”Because I love you I’m a little rough with you sometimes when you’re wrong”
”Because I love you I always want the best for you”
”Because I love you I let you make your own mistakes so you’ll learn from them and grow”
”Because I love you I make sure you have everything you need before I even cater to myself “
”Because I love you I try not to say things that I know will hurt you when I’m angry”
”Because I love you I listen to you to understand your thoughts and feelings”
and finally,
“Because I love you,”
”I refuse to carry on the idea of what I thought the love of a mother was suppose to be”
Love can be shown through actions, and love can be shown through words.
But, the purest, most beautiful type of love is revealed when you express and demonstrate that love.
“Because I love you, I do and say this to you,”
“and because I love you, I hope you pass these things on to your children too.”
