Endless Anguish

Tall snow covered trees,
Bring in the sight of peace and calm,
And even the slight hint of upcoming danger.
Wolves greedy and starved,
Circle the forestry earth,
For their next absent-minded prey.
Snow falls from the sky,
Like clear decorative crystal tears,
An unaware rabbit hobbles by.
The pack made no sound,
And they paid no mind,
To the feel of the falling snow against their pelt.
They just watched,
As their next victim,
Searched for its own source of food.
Fog slowly crawled,
Over the ill-omened terrain,
Like bullies the pack circled,
The unsuspecting rabbit.
No cry is heard,
As they pounced in for the kill,
Terror was ridden upon the rabbit,
At the sight of wolves surrounding her.
As they enclosed her,
The tang of blood,
Seemed like the dying whiff,
Of a rotten apple in the air.
And just like her,
My fear of being preyed,
Upon stays with me everyday.
Sluggishly on the snow concealed ground,
I try to move forward on heavy feet,
While she’s stuck in,
That moment of endless anguish.
For my days,
Continue on whereas hers,
End upon that snowy forest terrain.
