The Endless Years
You are 5 years old,
You are full of endless smiles and little fuss,
Except when you had to put your coat on when it was cold.
The Elementary years went by so fast
Your youngest years are officially finished.
5th grade was here at last.
It was full of so much hope,
So much promise.
Then bullies were your downhill slope.
You were called fat.
Ugly.
Smelly.
Pathetic.
Useless.
So you started watching your weight.
Stole make-up from your sister.
Started using perfume.
Tried changing your way of doing things.
Began to help people who tore you down.
Your hands felt tied behind your back.
You began to feel like that perfect ryhme was gone.
Because it was.
The ryhme was no longer there.
So you began to fall into an endless pit of despair.
That's all it was,
Endless.
But just when you felt like giving up.
When that knife sat at your throat,
That noose was tied around your throat.
When the chair was about to fall from your feet.
Someone came back and took that knife from your hands,
Who undone that noose and guided you down that chair.
That was the first time in over a year you cried tears of joy.
The first time you felt the love of someone over again.
That is the year you started high school.
You knew a long path was almost over.
You no longer felt like that lost fool.
The ryhme started coming back.
You couldn't have been happier to live the life you have now.
There was one last thing that you unfortunatly lacked.
That love of a man.
The love of someone who could call you beautiful night and day.
Someone who would, in public, hold your right hand.
The best part is he came.
His love was endless.
Even when people called him lame.
Reminding me of a pathetic past.
I gripped his hand harder
Telling him that our life will go by fast.
Just like the Elementary years.
You are living your life the way you want to.
You finally beat all those fears.
I finally beat the bullies at their own game.
But heres the new issue at hand.
In 5 years I will change my name.
In less than a year I will be gone.
Those years of misery will be left behind.
I will prove all those people wrong.
And I will live in this life with endless, smiles, laughs, tears.
As though that the rest of my life will have Endless years.
