Endure Today, Enjoy Forever
Every morning you wake up,
get out of bed, and then wash your face.
Trying to avoid your dad,
now that is some kind of race.
Make sure you get out the door
before he sees you.
If he does, then criticisms will roll,
and again your heart will be ripped in two
You call Nikki, the person closest to you.
As usual, she's with her boyfriend.
You'll never be good enough.
Not even for your best friend.
The day goes on,
you did nothing but endure it.
This sadness you feel,
it feels like you're trapped in a pit.
Go home. Get in bed. Take your bible.
Read of history passed, and things to come.
No matter what they say, you believe it.
Not many join you, but there are some.
The cares of the day slowly
evaporate.
Your sadness begins to
incinerate.
Little things bring you comfort
besides The Word.
As you read, your happiness surfaces,
just like a curd,
Your life now might be full of
sadness and grief.
But your life in the next will have nothing but
joy and relief.
