The Englishman

I sit here With the urge to write, And while I want to scratch I cannot seem to find the itch. When this urge occurs I begin to write Like an Englishman, Or English-woman if you prefer, And I begin to speak that way as well. “Begin” in place of “start”, “speak” in place of “talk”, “in place” in place of “instead”. Pronunciations and enunciations Make themselves evident in my speech My sentences becoming longer As I find more sophisticated an descriptive words to use. It is quite interesting When people notice And laugh and poke fun At the sudden change in my speech. So I sit down, Gather a pen and paper, Close my eyes for a moment, And let the Englishman do his magic.
