Enough!

mEnough!

by Adelina Lampkin Berry

They say

A minute on the lips, a lifetime on the hips so restrict what the food close to your fingertips.

Your figure will turn into something that doesn't appease the eye
so now I look in the mirror and wonder why...

I look in the mirror and don't like what I see.
Why the way I have to be?
What is it about me that is not enough
and yet I am proud that my edges are rough.
I am perfectly and uniquely ordinary.
And our bodies are indeed extraordinary.

It's not wrong or ugly
to not fit society's demands
but honest and true
to be you at first glance.
I am perfectly and uniquely ordinary
And our bodies are indeed extraordinary

So say to yourself I am me
and beautiful however I maybe
and despite what they say
I am 100% worthy
of love and friends and life
because
WE are perfectly and uniquely ordinary
and Our bodies are indeed extraordinary

Our bodies are indeed extraordinary
