Enough

I used to think that I was enough for you.

And I used to think that if you truly cared the way you said you did, you wouldn't have made me feel as though I wasn't enough.

But I guess I was wrong because here I am with tear stained cheeks wondering what more I could have done.

Maybe if I wouldn't have been scared to let you in, I would have been enough.

But I did let you in.

I almost said I loved you.

Right as you tore through my last wall you left.

Abandoning me.

Leaving me vulnerable.

I don't build these walls to shut people out, but that's what they do.

I build these walls to protect myself from this cruel world.

And now I see why these walls have never been torn down before.

Because I wouldn't let them fall.

But I let them fall with you.

And as I sit here, upon the ruins of these walls, I realize that I am enough... just maybe not to you
