Entitled

Dear Mom and Dad,

I should be entitled to choose my path as I am entitled to voice my opinion.

I should be able to trust you as I trust my best friend.

I should be able to say I love you as I say it to my siblings.

I should be able to cry in front of you as I cry to myself.

I should be able to tell you everything as I tell my close friends.

I should be happy around you as I am happy around others.

I should be, but I'm not.

I will change that, with or without you.

Sincerely,

A lost daughter
