Ephemeral Lover

Sometimes when I sit all alone

I sense someone never known

Yet this never surprises me

The ghost of fingers in my hair

Whispered words through the air

Still impeding actuality

Graceful arms entwine in mine

A soft hand traces my spine

For us, nothing stands between

Spectral light illuminates our skin

Our time has now stretched too thin

We have reached the apogee

A tear is brushed from my eye

Somehow, I believed in this lie

A warped wish next to reality

I awaken from these phantom dreams

And yearn for a touch that gleams

But memory does swiftly flee

The persisting hope has yet to leave

To find tangibility to receive

Someplace distant I can see

That is where she will be
